To appreciate the beauty of Hua Hin and its stunning coastline we recommend a visit to Hin Lek Fai Viewpoint or hill as it’s sometimes called. The word Hin Lek Fai means “Flint Stone hill” in Thai. Hin Lek Fai is located just 3 km west from Hua Hin city centre and is best reached by Tuk Tuk or by car. If travelling by rental bike we would like to warn the road up the hill is very steep and should only be attempted by very experienced motorcycle drivers.

Hin Lek Fai has numerous look out points, some viewpoints are in easy access right ahead from the carpark where visitors enter. Other viewpoints are down small trails, but very careful as some viewpoints off the beaten track have no railings. The main view point has safe deck where you can view Hua Hin and down all the way to Kao Takiab area. If you look directly down from the deck, below is the first Golf Course in Hua Hin and some say Thailand, the Royal Hua Hin Golf Course.

Check out also the open-air concert hall that holds charity concerts from time to time and there is also a touching memorial for King Bumiphol. Most of the shops originally in Hin Lek Fai have closed but there is a small convenience store that sells refreshments and has toilets.

Recommendations

Best time to visit Hin Lek Fai is just before the sun sets to see beautiful views in sunlight and also to be able to see the beautiful twinkling lights after dusk when the fishing boats come out and Hua Hin City turns on their lights. Make sure to ask your transport to wait for you because you can’t hail a taxi or Tuk Tuk in this area. Beware of Monkeys as they are known to steal valuables and grab food from visitors.
